FAQ

How is my e1RM calculated?+

We use the RPE-percentage formula popular in the strength community (Tuchscherer / RTS style):

e1RM = weight ÷ (1 − ((reps − 1) + (10 − RPE)) × 0.0333)

A 1-rep set at RPE 10 returns exactly your weight (correct, that IS your 1-rep max). A 5×5 at RPE 8 returns about 1.25 × the weight. For non-competition variants we then multiply by the variant multiplier (e.g. paused squat × 1.07) to estimate what you'd hit in the comp version of the lift. The result is what gets plotted on your e1RM chart.

What's RPE and why do you use it?+

RPE = Rate of Perceived Exertion. A 1–10 scale where 10 means you couldn't have done another rep, 9 means one rep left, 8 means two reps left, and so on. It's the most reliable way for athletes to self-regulate intensity day to day, because percentages of your true 1RM change with sleep, stress, life. RPE-based programming is what most modern powerlifting coaches use. POWALIFTA is built around it natively rather than %1RM.

Why "competition equivalent" e1RM?+

Different lift variations are harder than competition lifts. A paused squat at 100kg is harder than a competition squat at 100kg. So when you log a paused squat, we scale up the e1RM by 1.07 to estimate what you'd actually be able to do in the comp version. This way your chart compares apples to apples — you can see your "comp" strength trending without having to do comp lifts every session.

Multipliers used: paused squat ×1.07, tempo squat ×1.12, pin squat ×1.08; paused bench ×1.06, close grip ×1.09, pin press ×1.08, incline ×1.12; paused deadlift ×1.07, deficit ×1.06, RDL ×1.10.

Can I use POWALIFTA without a coach?+

Yes. Sign up as an athlete without an invite code and you can build your own programs (you'd need a coach account to do that — the program builder is a coach feature). Or just log sets as you do them and let the e1RM, goals, and bodyweight tracking do their thing. The platform is designed for coach-athlete pairs but works fine self-coached.

Is there a mobile app?+

Not yet — we run as a mobile-friendly website. You can save it to your phone's home screen for an app-like experience: open the site in Safari/Chrome, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. A native app is on the roadmap.

Is my data synced across devices?+

Yes. Your account and training data live in a secure cloud database — log in from your phone at the gym and your laptop at home and you'll see the same programs, logs, and charts everywhere. Coach-athlete connections are live too: when you log a set, your coach sees it.

How do coaches get paid for plans?+

Coach plans (Free up to 3 athletes, Basic $25/mo for 4–10, Pro $50/mo for 11–25, Premium $100/mo for 26+) are billed via Lemon Squeezy. Coaches handle athlete billing on their own — POWALIFTA is the platform, not a payment processor for coaching fees.

What if I forget my password?+

Click "Forgot password?" under the login form. We'll email you a reset link — open it on the same device and you'll be taken to a page where you can set a new password. The link expires after about an hour for security. Check your spam folder if you don't see the email within a couple of minutes. If you still can't get in, email powalifta1320@gmail.com.

Can I export my data?+

Not yet via the UI — self-serve export is on the roadmap. In the meantime, email powalifta1320@gmail.com and we'll send you a full export of your data (JSON) within 30 days, usually much faster.

Does it work for non-powerlifting strength training?+

The platform is opinionated — built around squat / bench / deadlift, RPE, e1RM, and bodyweight tracking. You can use the "Other" exercise category for anything that doesn't fit (Olympic lifts, gymnastics, etc.) but the e1RM math is calibrated for typical powerlifting reps and won't be meaningful for, say, max-distance sprinting.
